I am planting a lot of loquats. These are seedlings from friends tree.
I am looking for a mail order nursery that sells several of the grafted cultivars to serve as a future source of scion wood. I have not had much luck so far. |

Have some planted that are a few years old but no fruit as of yet:{ How long does it take for them to bear fruit?

With a grafted tree you can get fruit in one year. Here is my Tori Loquat with the remaining fruit after the birds attacked. Moved it into the pool enclosure with 9 fruit still intact. I was advised by the nursery guy who did the grafting to let them get soft after they yellow. They were on the small side for this first fruiting but they were delicious!

None of the 3 loquats I've tasted were from grafted trees. They were small but delicious. All were a bit soft to the touch; color is not an indication of goodness. I will never eat another persimmon in my life because of my experience as a child sampling a tiny "deer" one beside the stable. I'm not a baby; I can eat a lemon or lime without issues and really like sour but I was puckered up for a week from that nasty thing. Blech!
