Cool ! The fresh berries are much better tasting than the dried ones sold in stores.

I didn't realize the Goji Berry was so hardy. I got three in 5-gallons. Maybe I'll plant them in the ground.

I have what I believe is Taro but how can you tell. Where I planted it it multiplies rapidly. What are the identifying features of Taro?

Taro leaves and bulbs are different than Malangas. They grow faster but Malangas get bigger. Taro bulbs are roundish while Malanga bulbs are pointy and look like a root. Malangas don't need as much water as Taros. It's nearly impossible to drown a Taro.
Below is a picture of a bed of Taro and Malangas. The Malangas are the bottom picture and do get larger than Taros. Picture is from a member of gardenguides.com and Garden Web Forum. I hope the 6 I planted get this big! On a different note, I planted 2 Black Magic EE's, a Jack's Giant EE, 2 Black Beauties, 2 Pink Chinas and 2 Hawaiian Eyes. ![]() ![]() Last edited by cheson74 : 06-01-2011 at 04:44 PM. |

We planted Picaso canas, Peruvian dafodils, and Goji berries. mom tried to grow goji berries from seeds but they died when they were only 1 inch tall.
The first picture is the Picaso canas. The second picture is the Peruvian dafodils and how they will look when they flower. The fourth picture is one of the Goji berry plants. [IMG] [IMG] [IMG] [IMG]

I replanted my native violets (for native plants, they are pretty invasive) and I put those in a shadier spot and put a purple heart plant where the violets were. I also finallly potted up my schefflera and my white oleander (or at least Im pretty sure its a while oleander).
I think that my white oleander and my pink oleander are going to look really nice with each other. I also planted a lantana in the ground.

Finally I planted my Vinca Major seedlings I grew from seeds today. So far only one of them has a flower bud on it, and it's red, a color I need for my garden. Once in the ground, it bloomed a few hours later. How cool!

Bought two Wind Mill Palms today that were 1/2 off ($42.00 each) in 5 gallon pots. One I put in larger pot and put in ground so I can pull it out easy when winter gets here to over winter in garage. Other Wind Mill I also transplanted into larger pot and will let it be a potted plant. Will also pull it inside the garage when severe cold weather gets here.
