Was outside working in the driveway building some trellises for a couple of unknown Dragon fruits that I want to plant towards the end of the drive way. The neighbors from a few houses down stopped by on their walk to see what I was building this time. I had some extra potted up Heliconia Rostrata that I gave them, they said they had some potted fruit trees left by the previous owner that they would never plant that I could have.
So I got a grafted jack fruit tree (desperately needs to be out of that pot, but it is putting out new growth) and a carambola. They didn't know what variety either was (the tags have long since deteriorated), but said the the carambola does put out good tasting fruit. Heres the jack fruit. ![]() DM |

I got my hands on a Nepenthes v.ventrata a huge scary man eating plant that terrifies my neighborhood kids, well not really. That is what everyone thinks about carnivorous plants or at least I did, am I the only one?
This was this morning and overnight it caught a spider and a fly, awesome! ![]() If you look closer you can identify both the fly and the spider being dissolved by the enzymes of the pitcher. Kind of cruel but not really is just nature. The fact is we all have to eat something that was once a living thing. It does not matter if it was Lettuce, Pork, chicken,____ you fill the blank. (watch Discovery Channel for details) ![]() Isn’t that beautiful? I think so. ![]() ![]() |

Came into the office this morning to find a citrus sprout in one of my potted plants.
It's one of the seeds from my lunch fruit months ago. I think it might be a blood orange, but honestly I have no clue at this point. Same at home, I have a year old plant that I can only guess is a Meyers lemon...

I have been planting lots of stuff (usual)! But this is my first lemon and lime (dwarfs) I have ever owned, I'll keep them in pots until I find a nice straight branch to air-layer.
![]() Package came from Ohio... 'em boys must be doing something right up there. ![]() Learned something new today: Lime tree (mine) has thorns! Haven't planted my veggie garden yet... waiting on some stuff to get moved around in my yard. edit: (middle potted plant is a giant blueberry I will give to my cousin.) 1 Nectarine 'Red Glo'
1 Plum 'Yellow Sweet' I have an established Belle of Georgia Peach on far left. Plum needs a pollinator but many fruit trees are in the neighborhood. Nectarine might be the only pollinator it needs? Still doing my research. I have owned other pears, plums, oranges, peaches, and apples in the same location these are planted so they should have a good start. ![]() During or after it rains the next two or three days I'll mulch around them. |
