Default Re: What's blooming in your garden? (bananas)

My yard has been happy lately. 3 fizzled hurricanes have brought record breaking heat, humidity, and the first above normal rainfall month in 9 months.

Praying Hands

Agristarts Mona Lisa

3 bunches of 1000 Fingers, and a fourth out of frame to the left.

Local TC from Novelty Greens of "Goldfinger" which it clearly is not. However, matches Goldfinger in some respects including the fruit taste and ease at which fingers come off before totally ripe as on Dwarf Brazilian. Messy Rachis here looks pretty much like a DB.

Agristarts "Goldfinger" clearly another which is not, but again is similar to GF descriptions in other ways.

My first Dwarf Puerto Rican Plantain. Got this from Chris Carter a year ago. Was a sad little thing with the corm cut back severely due to corm weevils. Seems pretty happy now. about 6.5 feet tall.

Sad Hua Moa. P-stem split halfway through its growth, but it survived and fruited.

Happy Hua Moa, from another source. Didn't split. But hardly an impressive bunch.

Mysore with 13 hands! The biggest I've had so far. This is the first bunch and surprisingly short for a Mysore, about 9-10 feet.

Hey PR,

Hope you are well. I am a special kind of person as you say. I believe the variety that you and I have debated the most about was the 3640. However, I haven't cut off the male bud this time on my "fools goldfinger". There is no way it's a goldfinger. I'll have to post a current picture when I get the chance. So I admit that I was mistaken. I should have grown out the male bud on previous bunches before so as to avoid misidentifying. Not sure what it is exactly but I love the fruit off of it. It's my favorite of all I have tried.

Edit: photos below....

Dwarf Brazillian

FHIA-18...I will get a positive ID on it in a few days now that I have more characters to evaluate with.

Rose fruiting at only about 5' tall but it has several hands already. Just had a couple hands of these from keikikid. Forgot how wonderful they are!

Putalinga Kula, a reddish Popoulu type. This one is my first bunch of it. About 13 months to flower. Much bigger than any Hua Moa bunch I've gotten. Looking like 7-8 hands. Gorgeous plant. Pseudostem is much more red below than in the top portion.

A little bit further with this one that I believe is a FHIA-18. Thus far things are looking good

Here is a FHIA-2. I think I may just move this variety to a new location. It isn't thriving where it is at.

Excited to see this one flower. Got it a year ago. According to Kepler & Rust, there are only 12 in the world, or I guess 13 with mine. This is one of the ones I helped get into Ms. Kepler's TC preservation project along with Gabe and Keikikid.

Maoli Hai. Supposed to be the biggest bunches of the Maolis.

It's amazing how a large inflorescence can fit through such a skinny pseudostem.

Excited to see this one flower. There is only 1 in the world.

It has many similarities to the Manini but also some very distinct differences.

2nd Tu'u Ghia bunch. More red than the first and 2 feet taller at flowering. One of my favorites.
