I purchased this banana plant last summer. It started flowering this year. It was labeled as Java Blue 'Icecream'. It is around 6 feet tall. The fruit lacks the bluish green tinge. Will it change color later?

My namwa (tall) fruits always have a small bit of purple on the banana fingers when they have just opened. It fades in time. Did your bananas have any coloring on them when the bract first opened?
Q for BBJ: Do Dwarf Namwa's have the purple color on new fingers like tall namwa? |

Not sure. Never seen a dwarf namwa bloom. They just look like namwa bananas and since it is only six feet tall I thought dwarf namwa. Maybe I am wrong . Take a picture of the whole plant. |

Tall namwas can fruit at short height if they lack resources so height is not a major indicator for me. I suggest making a link from your post in the banana id to this thread and maybe Gabe will drop in and give us the definitive answer. |
