well i got that smallest of all the CG its only 12" tall and i didn't get to plant it for over 5 days so its not grown that much its put out a new leaf and I'm hopeful it will grow fine here they tend to tolerate the heat quite nicely time will tell all get a picture posted when it puts out a couple more leafs its a bit ratty looking right now the best pup i got from Scot is the double mahoi thats growing like made it was a vary Small pup with only 2" roots and i know it will survive here as mom was out side all winter

From my experience bananas tend to do very well when they planted on the ground but I am lucky my banana plants tend to survive nicely also in pots but in subdued sunlight and without wind. Like taking care of them like a baby. Neglect is a nice word. I tend to neglect them and that's how they like it. Many times they surprise me with their growth when you neglect them as if they are saying hey, you look at me now! aren't you going to take care of me now that I look pretty? Many times I get surprised when I see the soil so very dry and they still thrive.

You hit that right on the head Benny, I babied most of my plants this winter and lost most of them, last year I neglected the heck out of them, maybe check on them once every other week, and they did great all winter in an unheated three season room here in zone 5, well I moved and made a room down stairs with flourescent grow lites steady temp of 70 and watered lightly, no ferts, they did great untill March, then they all just fell over and the corms were half rotted. No more babying of the nanners for me. Tough Love from here on out. well maybe a little babying

Your right "experience IS the best teacher" I just wasn't paying much attention the first winter to lessons to be learned, I know better now though, anyhow, Benny I love the pics of your trees, they always seem to be very happy and produce tons of fruit, I have a washington navel orange tree, that I have killed six times in the last two years. Every time I trim it back to where all I have left is a stem, It just keeps on trucking and produces new limbs, I finally replanted it the end of May this year in Cocohusk chip and coir mixture following Millets description from the Citrus Growers forum, seems to be a very happy little tree with no chance of over watering ever again, again, Live and Learn

That is some good looking CG you got there! Do you keep it mostly under the sun?
And what is the ambient temperature during daytime/nightime?
I need to know because in Las Vegas, it's hard to make a banana looking lush like yours.

Thanks for your compliments. It only gets sun after about 1:00pm until sunset. Temperature here during the day is averaging 75 to 83. At night it hasnt dropped below 65. Watering everyother day at 5:00am in the morning, seems to like its feeding

Yes, I have lots of fruits Alex every year. I have them at least 5 years. My Fuji apples and Persimmons at least 20 years. None of them grow very big.

Andy: you are lucky you have the optimum temperature to grow bananas and many other fruit trees. Thanks for answering right away.
