Hello!
I have always grown my bananas in pots the past two years, as they were very small when I got them all, and wanted more control. When I moved to Nashville, I decided I would give a musa basjoo a try in the ground. What should I expect vs care in points? Water more or less? Can I mulch around the banana? Will it grow faster than in a pot? Thanks for any feedback you may have in this transition!

Your zone is perfect for some massive growth and spread There are some good Youtube videos with planting/soil amending techniques for bananas.....pick and choose what you can use. Your plant will need some room to spread too Giant Basjoo. ☞https://flic.kr/s/aHsjYLXXfW Last edited by cincinnana : 03-15-2021 at 05:01 PM. |

Any banana will do better in the ground with more space. The issue is protecting them in in cold/freezing weather.

All can be found on Craigslist and the web.. Pick and choose what works for you you. My weight limit is a 50 gal container. If space is an issue choose the largest container which your landscape scene. However, basjoos will be an awesome addition to your landscape when planted in a well amended area...
