Martha is a great seller, I purchased a number of items from her back this spring, and since she's so close geographically, I get most things the day after they are shipped.
Is she still planning to move from Florence into the midlands? I haven't spoken with her in a while now.

I spoke to Martha recently. Don't know her plans about moving to Florence but I can tell you guys this - she is a member here under a different name than her ebay name, but she is shy to post because she does not want to appear she is soliciting business. I told her no worries, go for it, make the most of the Org.. maybe some encouragement for the shy gal will help her come out of hiding

Martha come out! We know you're there. Most all my best plants have come from members here after getting most of my others on ebay. I can't buy any more now due to lack of space and cool temperatures but, you have enough fans here that I wouldn't hesitate to buy some plants from you in the future...Bob

Kylie, Ursula, JCDerrick, Mediahound, Bob and Chironex. You guys are a hoot!
Ok, you lured me out of lurking mode. I thank you all for thinking of me. Ursula is right, I'm a busy person..way too busy. She knows some personal details of my life so she speaks the truth. HUGS to you Ursula! You know how I feel about ya! Ursula is just special! In March, I had a family crisis that is ongoing and takes a great deal of my time. So, JCDerrick, plans are on hold to move to your neck of the woods. You never found me land (just kidding). Actually, we never did find suitable land/house and then this economy isn't cooperating either. It might be best to stay put for a bit and ride this out. If you hear of anything, please let me know. Prices don't seem to be dipping in your area. Kylie, you are too kind and what a great sense of humor you have. I'm serious, Kylie could do standup. She is a great person! Mediahound knows how to hound me, lol, all joking aside, he's the best. Bob, I look forward to getting to know you as well as Chironex. Even though I own and operate a nursery, I pop in here every once in awhile to get info. One can never cease to learn and I've never been one to proclaim that I know it all. Have a great day everyone and keep up your senses of humor. It does bring smiles. |

Hey Martha, it's good to see you here. A quarter of my yard came from your place. And the Gigantea has about 300 babies growing from seed, LOL
Ditto on the economy - seems folks with land to go with their homes are holding on tight right now. Who can blame em. Please do drop in to post when you can. Would love to hear from you.

Worm Farmer, you can read more about it in the wiki. My consumption of Ae Ae has been limited to one dried slice (lengthwise) and it was very good. It's expensive because it has not been successfully reproduced by tissue culture (though I believe Gabe indicated once that some had claimed to have done it and that is boss thought she knew how it could be done). In addition, it can be challenging to grow since it usually needs some shade and even then, sometimes it produces pups that are all green (which are of little value) or all white (which die).
On a related matter, I have some personal good news. While watering my tall greenhouse Ae Ae this afternoon, I noticed a little pup emerging. I'm hoping to build up a collection of 4-6 mother plants, though that might be optimistic. This plant is about touching the top of my 16' GH ceiling and is in a 30 gallon container and I'm hoping to hold it over winter in the greenhouse and then plant it outdoors next spring.Harvey |

Congrats Harvey, I got a pup a month ago and while all my other plants have thrived and are growing fast the ae ae has done very poorly. Since all the other s have needed to be watered several times and it didn't ,I re potted it with a better draining mix. The roots didn't seem to have grown at all. Figures it would be THAT one.
