Its very possible its variegated, I had a TC Rajapuri that had leaves that were one half solid white/yellow, and one half solid green, but after that pstem died the rest were normal. This also happens in other plants like canna stuttgart, its variegated but will revert to the normal form occasionally, called omega. Something in the TC process causes a mutation, hopefully it will be a stable form.

I hiope the best for your plant. It certianly does look var. that can get stronger or isappear, but as with TC plants this does happen and often stays. I managed to get a tray of ICe cream (Java) plants that had a variegated plant that is onw 18 months old and solid yellow variegation. I am moving it out of the greenhouse and into the ground soon. Take care of that plant and hiopefully you can be the owner of everyones var Basjoo inthe furture.

Quick update : I took a look at the new uncurling leaf yesterday morning and couldnt see any variegation......looked this morning after its pushed another inch out and its still there
Not quite and strong as the previous leaf but still there.Interesting the red is much more prominent than the white on this leaf. Seems I could end up with a red variegated basjoo...not quite what I was hoping for since then it would just be like a siki ![]() |

I thought it was too good to be true....I checked on the corm and to my horror found it wasnt from my basjoo tc stuff but from a Siki red tiger pup - which explains the red colourings.
So ...it looks like Ive now got a variegated Sikimensis Red Tiger....not quite as good as I thought but still could make a gorgeous plant fingers crossed.... ![]() |
