You guys in warmer grow zones are a few months ahead of me
![]() My basjoo are still 6 inches below grade awaiting their turn for spring growth. Mekongs and basjoo were fertilized and spring mulched with 46-0-0 and woodchips a few weeks ago before the wet season. A lot is happening underground with the formation of runners and pups and once the soil temperature stabilizes they will become active. Ferns and spring ephemerals are just breaking the surface. Container plants are on skids under lights in the basement waiting for the average temperature to rise a bit before moving outdoors. Last edited by cincinnana : 04-12-2024 at 08:28 AM. Reason: tipo |

Helen's Hybrid survived the winter
outside with minimal protection. First time that's happened for me. Definitely an attribution to the mild winter we had, not anything I did. Normally a pic would accompany this post but the upload feature doesn't seem to be working at the moment.....not that the pic is very exciting....a brown p-stem with a Sun starved leaf protruding from the top ![]()
