I have not successfully grown bananas yet. I ordered a few seeds from eBay and I am about to try it again. I have 5 acres in Southeast Texas. I had a 1.3 acre pond dug about 12 years ago. It was 30’ (9M) deeps, but now it is 27’ (8M) deep. I am putting in a white sand beach along one side. I had 3 dump truck loads of white river sand delivered. I am still prepping the shoreline. I will put down geotextile fabric, then spread the sand over it.
I am planning to plant tropical plants at each end and in various places around the pond. Thus the renewed interest in banana plants. I am going to try to grow all the plants from seed. Here is what I have ordered. Some have already arrived. Musa Sikkimensis Hardy Banana Dinosaur Gunnera Giant Leopard Moso Bamboo Moldovan 456 Tobacco Seeds Here are a few pictures of my pond. I want to make it look tropical with banana and other big leaf plants. I am on the edge of zone 8 & 9. It gets hot in the Summer and we have freezes in the Winter It is very humid also.

Good luck ur not much further N. of me and we didn't freeze last winter.. I have 2 Pineapples that fruited to prove it.. or they'd be dead.. If you have some tree cover near that pond is great place to put a banana you don't want the frost to hammer.. Frost cloth worx too..
