Election night "musings" (musaings?)

Ok, bad pun and I don't claim to know latin.

The past three years post Katrina I now split time between New Orleans and Costa Rica with the idea of establishing an organic homestead / bed and breakfast / retirement home.

I'm growing local transplants of bananas, plantains and a squarish variety the natives call cuadrillos.

Interested in different edible varieties, especially those that can be started from seed as bringing plants or bulk seed into Costa Rica is extremely problematic.

Well Dave, I have good news and bad news for you. The good news is that you will have lots of support here from a number of very experienced banana growers, the bad news is that nearly all edible bananas don't come from seeds. Perhaps you might be able to bring in plants or sealed tissue cultured starts with phytosanitary certificates. Good luck with your plans!

Some of these seed producing varieties are reputed to have delicious flesh all the same. It seems someone would figure out a way to strain or separate and create a use for the pulp.

Bienvenidos! I'm in Ecuador myself, and I'm never ever leaving.

Your best bet on edible varieties, like Chironex says, will be to get a Phytosanitary for import of TCs. Once you've got that, you're golden. Heck, if you can get a phyto, I'll send you some bananas.
