Default Too late to cut pups?

This is my first season growing bananas and man have I learned a lot. I was finally getting around to transplanting some pups but thought I should ask for some advice first. I am in zone 8A DFW area and was wondering if its too late in the year for these to get established if I cut some of them off. Was planning on leaving at least 1 on each plant, maybe two on some if they are growing in a good direction. Some of them have gotten pretty good size so not sure if its too late all together.
