Hubby and I recently retired; both have extensive horticultural experience, mostly amateur but some professional. Finally gave up trying to grow traditional North American fruits (WAAAY too many hot humid loving bugs, diseases, and moisture, not near enough winter cold....) & realized the way to go is subtropical. Citrus of many kinds does great here, grown it for yrs, and now we'd like to get more into different bananas. Been growing a rather plain tasting variety of Cavendish for years, plus an ornamental or 2, but figured there HAS to be more of a selection in flavor, size, etc. Hard to find in local nurseries. Discovered this site today! Yeah! We have the soil, space, and climate, and looks like y'all have the info!
