Default New guy on the block

Helo all... I have a few questions for you all. First off I recently moved so I transplanted a bunch of bananas from my old house to bring to the new place. I transplanted them about 3 weeks ago and one problem I see is that as soon as a new shoot starts, another shoot starts before the other fully develops. is this due to over watering or over fertilizing ??? Any other tips for rapid growth in zone 9b ???

Another question I have is my brother-in-law. He takes the caveman approach to gardening. (hole, dirt, water) fertilizer, trimming, or additional care, would require work or time that he doesn't have. He bought a house that has 3 or 4 banana colonys that are 7 or 8 years old. some of the colonys are dyeing back rapidly. One lady in the neighborhood said this is normal as a banana goes through a 7-8 year cycle. Is this true ? Some of the stalks snap off easy at the ground with signs of fungus. A local hydroponics store said that it was rhizome desiese. The only problem is that he never changed his watering habits. The only thing that has changed in the last few years is I introduced a root inoculant to his garden (Great White) Did this cause the problem ??? Any extra help would be greatly appreciated
