Description

  • Genetic Group - AAA (Mutika/Lujugira Subgroup)

This variety is listed as an unknown type by the USDA. Accession notes do state that genetic testing was done on it, and that it was most closely related to the Mutika/Lujugira (East African Highland Banana) Subgroup. This would suggest that it was a multi-use variety in its place of origin, that could be eaten ripe or processed for cooked food/liquor.

Origin

  • Date realized in trade -

1992 - Donated to the USDA Tropical Agriculture Research Station; by University of Puerto Rico, Corozal Experimental Substation
