Plantain Subgroup
The Plantain Subgroup refers to a set of related banana cultivars that arose in Africa and continue to be cultivated. The subgroup as a whole consists of starchy bananas that are astringent when raw, but make for excellent food after being cooked. Not to be confused with Info:Cooking Bananas
