This variety was grown in the hill country of India. It was almost wiped out by bunch top, but a small number of healthy, disease- free stock was taken and tissue cultured, thus saving the variety from extinction. It was then planted in BBT free areas, and is now not in danger of extinction. Ty Taylor had it shipped in from India, and is now firmly established in the USA! It is in the pome group, growing about fifteen feet tall. Ty said it is in his top three bananas (He grows over a hundred lol).
