Re: Red Daccas
I've always been under the impression australians are not allowed to grow bananas in the garden as the fear of diseases wiping out the plantations led to them only being commercially grown (legally...

Re: Banana 101
the term heirloom isn't really used with bananas, but if you apply it the same way you would with vegetables, almost all of the hundreds of edible cultivars in the world are heirlooms, and the rest...

Re: Any word from our southern members?
Hi all,
I hadn't seen this thread. I am fine, thank you for the concern. St. Gabriel is just outside of Baton Rouge. We had wind in the 60 mph range, and very little rain. I had lots of pecan...

Re: Variegated Palms
The palms are a personal interest, not commercial so I'd prefer to trade if you have something of interest. These get to be huge, but given how easy they were (or should i say how much abuse they...

Re: Musa 'Bordelon' fruiting ?
I have some references to a few M. coccinea crosses, however its aggravating as some have footnotes in later references saying that some of the M. coccinea were actually M. laterita! Some are...

Re: Variegated Palms
I've got a bunch of euterpe edulis seedlings if anybody is interested in a trade. They probably have no chance of surviving here, and it was just an experiment. They are probably way too easy to...

Re: Musa 'Bordelon' fruiting ?
I hate to think about how much could be mislabled out there, based solely on the appearance of the leaves.. which is what many people have done with the red blotched stuff.
The 'Bordelon' s that I...

Musa 'Bordelon' fruiting ?
Hi all,
Has anyone fruited this and can comment on whether or not it is truly an edible or seeded variety? I don't have this yet, but there are several large stands at the LSU trial (only 6...

Re: Ideas for the site
As this site grows, the need for and usefulness of a good FAQ can't be understated. The main drawback of other sites like GW is that there are soooo many posts asking the same thing over and over...

Re: Variegated Dwarf 'namwah Pearl'
I'm hoping for some Senorita myself. Sounds like a good candidate for being a producer in zone 8... even if not, it should be much easier to handle over winter at least.
Hoping to get in some...

Re: Variegated Dwarf 'namwah Pearl'
.. well if it helps further the confusion, a few of the newer asian variegates are also namwahs, and different in appearance. None of these are widely available, but in time I'm sure they will be. ...
