Here are some pictures of the "ice cream banana" I transplanted over a year ago. It's finally making some nanners!

Any help in getting the true ID would be most appreciated. Thank...

Re: Banana Circles

If you're dumping fresh yard waste you might be doing your banana a disservice. Fresh waste ties up nitrogen as it composts. Instead, compost your yard waste separately and, after you have finished...

I had the same issue when I bought an "ice cream banana" a year ago. It's finally flowered and I'll post for an ID soon. There are many knowledgeable folks on this forum who are happy to help.

Re: HELP SAVE MY BANANA PLANT! (Pictures)

I don't think this is the source of your problem but, as a digression, I'd recommend against putting fresh organic material in your soil that isn't composted. Fresh organic material, such as banana...

Here's another spammer (note the suggestive numbers in the screen name). They appear to have just joined and sent a random, obnoxious PM:

Re: My First Banana Plant! Alleged Ice Cream Banana

If by "sets it apart" you mean characteristics specific to this cultivar, then I'd say the blue fruit coloration is pretty specific to the Blue Java (I think only before it ripens). Besides the...

Re: Drooping Leaves!

I'm in south Florida so mine has been in the ground and exposed to the wind since fall. I don't think we've had any particularly strong winds lately.

Re: Drooping Leaves!

There are squirrels around but not a ton. I don't know why they'd start jumping all over the banana plant all of a sudden in the past couple of days but I'll try to keep an eye out for them. There...

Drooping Leaves!

My alleged ice cream banana plant leaves are drooping. A few were drooping yesterday but I thought it was the usual course of things and trimmed them off. Today, more are drooping and I'm not sure...

I'm new as well so I'd defer to the more experienced folks on this front. Things to consider/discuss:

- Proper fertilization

- Cutting the flower (not sure what the thoughts are on this practice...

Re: Help me choose

It doesn't get quite as tall as you'd like (about 7 ft vs 8-10 ft) and I'm not sure about the trunk thickness but you may look into Musa velutina (hot pink banana). It's fairly cold hardy (not as...

Re: Cavendish question

Cavendish bananas are dessert bananas - edible without cooking. In fact, Cavendish bananas are the bananas you've been buying from the grocery store your whole life.

I've never tried an Ice Cream...

Re: Looking for variegated A'e A'e in Florida

Awesome. I'm tempted to look into it myself as it's such a cool looking plant. It blows away variegated cultivars of other plants by a mile.

Re: Yield in dwarf varieties vs tall ones

It might be worth investing in a chipper/shredder if you're chopping a lot of old P-stems (and other yard debris).
