Wintering Musa Basjoo by only covering with topsoil?

Hi just wondering if my Musa Basjoo will survive in Maryland zone 7 as the temps are now 30 outside the past week. The leaves all died so I just cut it back to the ground and covered it with topsoil....

Would just covering with mulch be enough or should I cover with plastic over the mulch as well? I am in zone 7. Thanks!

Would just cutting my Musa basjoo down to the ground and covering with a plastic trash bag then adding about 3 -6 inches of mulch on top work? Just worried about it rotting. Anyone tried this before?...

Wow I have never heard of a basjoo blooming here in zone 7!!! You really know your bananas...lol. So do you fill the bag with leaves? Then tie it with string? Really so you leave approximately 4foot...

How is your banana tree doing now? Mines seem to have the exact same Robles with the leaves now?! Although I did apply some bayer systemic insecticide a few weeks ago so I am worried about that.

I also grow fig , peach and blue berry and plum. However those are all out doors. The dwarf banana is my only indoor plant. I took it out to put it in a bigger pot.

Anyone have luck getting rid of them? They are in the 1000s in my soil inside and out. And I plan to bring in my dwarf at winter since I am zone 7.

Would using horse manure be ok?

I have a local horse ride shop that gives it away and my dad used to go there for his tomatoes...thoughts for a potted lady finger dwarf? Maybe a mixture of manure, peet moss and soil?
