Re: What is the best fertilizer for bananas?
My plants grow well, but my pseudostems aren't thick. I run into trouble when the plants get too tall. Any suggestions for fertilizer? I read somewhere it need more N, but not sure if that is...

				 Re: container citrus
My improved Meyer is somewhat prone to scale as well. Horticultural oil helps a lot though.

				 Re: container citrus
I'd recommend Lemons, Limes, and Kumquats. Those will give you lots of useable fruit. I also have grapefruit, oranges and mandarins in pots, but they really don't produce enough fruit to make them...

				 Re: Sugarloaf Pineapple
I had a sugarloaf fruit in a 1 gallon pot, it was a pretty small fruit but tasted great. Pineapples don't need much soil to grow, but the plants can get pretty wide, they love to jab you as you walk...

				 Re: Dibble for transplanting.
 Inventive!

I'm lazy, I just use two fingers to make my dibble hole and transplant the plugs into a 4" tall square pot, then about a month later into 1 gallon pots.

Oh thanks, I've been there. It was quite a ways from the freeway, though, for someone passing through.

				 Re: Black stem banana?
What greenhouse in Chicago? I'm on the lookout for some new shopping places, since Geimers and oh darn, I forgot the name of the place on 176.

Always looking for different and unusual plants.

That's very sad. I don't remember her, but this has not been a good year for Bananas.org members.
 RIP, Anna~

				 Re: Ponderosa Lemon!
My Ponderosa has never grown very fast, either. I had 1 large fruit on it last winter, and it did get bigger this summer, but I wouldn't call it a fast grower.
You might try the Citrus Grower's...

Re: Photos from IAS show and sale 2011-Part 2
You like those Caladiums, don't you?
I grew those one year, and really liked them, but they only lived 1 year for me, although I brought the pots into the greenhouse for the winter.

I wait until cool weather to dig mine and bring them in. I don't try to keep them growing through the winter, it's just not warm enough or light enough and they sometimes get sick because...
