Re: Blue Java Journal

Hey CB, was wondering if you could share your opinions on how Blue Java bananas taste. I realize it's purely subjective, but I'm curious to hear your thoughts.

Thanks!

Re: Not Rajapuri?

Tastewise, my palate isn't nearly as refined as others here, but I'd have to say these are...

Re: Bluefield Banana Variety (Hawaii)?

Hi Susan,

I'll see if he can give me a positive ID on your pics. Guessing he likely won't remember too many details since this was about 40+ years ago. I'll report back with any info.

Re: Not Rajapuri?

Thanks for all the sleuth work, folks!

I'll take a closer look after work today. I don't recall seeing the "single plane" growth described in the wiki, but I can't really be sure.

Not Rajapuri?

Hey Folks,

The first banana plant i ever bought was advertised as Rajapuri by Armstrong. Being naive, i kept clinging to the idea that it really was what they claimed it was.

I posted pics when...

Thanks for the info, CB. Good to know others have similar experiences here.

I didn't take a pic of the bunch...I believe it put out 7 hands, but didn't get a count of fingers prior to commencement...

Re: Raja Puri Blooming?

....and they're finally ripe. Wow, that took a long time (9 months from appearance of bloom to ripe). Is that fairly normal?

As for the taste, I must say it's very similar to the DB/"Apple...

Any guesses here?

Hey Folks,

Does anyone have any idea what this might be? Neighbor had them in a barrel planter that rotted out. He didn't know what variety they were, but they never appeared to get taller than...

Sul-Po-Mag Sources

Just wondering where city folk buy this stuff in the big (50#) bags. I've looked in the big home improvement stores around LA, but get blank stares when I ask about it. I guess I shouldn't be...

Re: Raja Puri Blooming?

Hammocked, those pics are a little deceiving. The Rajapuri is sitting on a pretty high hill. It's not really as tall as the garage it's next to.
