Re: Root issue with TC bananas

Yo. I ended up moving them to a second greenhouse that I have that has more room and they have started to do a 180 and they’re looking a lot better.

Root issue with TC bananas

These guys are two years old this April. 3”-6” tall. Noticed a few weeks ago they were wilting and hadn’t watered lately. Thought maybe pots were too small so repotted and they had a lot of roots....

Re: Free Variegated Banana Seedlings

Gently pull them out? I never do see any TC bananas with pups around them so guess it’s not common until some decent corm grows for pups to survive maybe.

Re: bananas, beer, and coca cola for fertilizers

Man I couldn’t waste my Coca Cola on my plants haha. Crazy idea and if it’s working. What about attracting fire ants? They have gotten worse here in the last few years. Sometimes they hide nest under...

Re: Free Variegated Banana Seedlings

Oh they are going to be two years old come April. Still small but obviously not tiny. Tallest ones being 6”. Kept them last summer on a partly shaded patio so they stayed out of the weather, safer...

Re: Free Variegated Banana Seedlings

Another question since you know a lot about TC and seedlings. How do you know if they are getting too much or too little of water. TC plants seem to be hard with watering. They have yellow and brown...

Re: Only leaving a few leaves on mother plants?

Off topic question but it’s my post so it won’t hurt. PR- what are your thoughts and experiences with whether bananas throw fruit faster with only one or two pups on the mat with the mother. Or it...

Re: Only leaving a few leaves on mother plants?

Yep. I guess anyone curious can try it but looks ugly so I don’t want to trim mine up. Bummed enough I have lost some stems to the ground this winter already.

Re: Only leaving a few leaves on mother plants?

One was a guy in SC, another Georgia, Florida. I just googled something in words of like my title. They had fruit on their plants. Could be a shock response too from all the trimming. For instance...

Re: Free Variegated Banana Seedlings

I don’t know who that member is but with that much land you still have to protect the stems some years if you want a head start with fruit for the next year. So that would be a huge ordeal! Pretty...

Re: Free Variegated Banana Seedlings

Don’t have a way to contact you PR but I have a handful of TC plants I have grown out from tiny plants in there bags. To 6” plants. Just repotted them again as pots from last year seemed small. They...

No I’m not talking about a banana. Look at your picture again. I forget the name of the plant they sell them everywhere at box stores.

They are all looking good! It was on a Tars site with the crazy green color. Wish we could grow the pink colored plant you have in the one picture. Areas under trees protected from frost we saw huge...

Re: Only leaving a few leaves on mother plants?

You have sweetheart don’t you? Some pictures I have seen of it the stalks are very… green looking. Not sure if it’s just bad picture quality or what. But looks fluorescent. Looks cool.

Re: Free Variegated Banana Seedlings

Well I don’t have enough land then haha. But I would pot up a bunch that’s for sure. Your soil must be pretty fertile there alone I would assume? You don’t ever ship any seedlings out like that?...

Re: Only leaving a few leaves on mother plants?

Re: Only leaving a few leaves on mother plants?

Had to rewrap some that the 30mph winds pulled the plastic off. Few weeks ago we had 50mph winds and that made large mats plastic loose. Looking at the 10-12ft stalks of blue Java that fell over. I...

Re: Only leaving a few leaves on mother plants?

Most people think all bananas are the same they are selling I feel. A lot look alike that’s for sure so if no knowledge you won’t know what they could be. Never been in your county but any places in...

Re: Only leaving a few leaves on mother plants?

You should post up pictures of the banana and fruits sometime. My yard drains fast so stays really dry so I always get free mulch from the power company.

Plus, I looked at it the more leaves moisture keeps around the bottom and also the more leaves more photosynthesis that can happen.

Only leaving a few leaves on mother plants?

Saw some videos where guys claim they have gotten fruit quicker by only leaving 2-3 leaves on mother plants. Anyone ever noticed faster growth with pruning their bananas? I leave all leaves except...
