Even though we plant to make money for a living I still enjoy working with plants. Being outside in great weather with all the passing critters, Birds, Frogs, Iguanas, its never dull. Today wife and I stuck Croton cuttings into 300 4" pots, 3 cuttings per pot, will root two weeks and be sold three months for $1.00 When I read here that a member is paying 19.95 for a 4" potted Naner . . . well, just cannot believe how supplyers overcharge, so rediculous ! That dwarf Cavendish was tissue cultured by a company in Orlando. I've bought them myself when the plant was first developed about 1994 for $1.20 in cell trays of 40. I grew them on into 3 gallon pots and wholesaled them 2' tall for 12.00.

WARNING . . . If you are the kind of fool who falls in love with plants because they are beautifull, very beautiful, then please be carefull and do not, do not look at crotons.org ! Do not click on to enlarge any of the gallery sellections ""less ye be traped and beauty bound as surely as by being drugged ""

Ms. Kitty . . . Merry Xmas Honey !! I hope you and all our friends on the B Org are spending time with family and friends. Wife and I drove down the mountain to visit friends and did a little "hugging". No one should be alone on Xmas. If you are alone, get out . . go to the nearest bar and hug some stranger !

I have been a Croton expert for many years. There exist hundreds of cultivars with every colour immaginable and leaf shapes of many different character. Up north in the nurseries you will see only 2 or 3 kinds. There are many really wierd and beautiful kinds that "have been forgotten" and I'm taking on the mission to bring some back to gardeners! I call them "Endangered Crotons".

Watch the weather reports and if you see a warm spell predicted soon, then quickly order the "Greenhouse Special" and I will include several unusual Crotons.

hi there sugar dumplin! lol. lol. lol. i was alone for christmas today. one child went one way the other child went the oppisite way. and the bars....naaa i dont think so. i did have a corona though! i had my banana bunch here to keep me company.(they really liked their chewey bones and their toys that were in their stocking) i really like the weird color crotons. they actually had a BLUE and ORANGE one!!!!!!! i got to have that one! as soon as i can wrangle the money up im gonna get that special gh. order. the crotons are very unique plants, just the thing to brighten up a corner thats dull. they almost remind me of "wild cabbages" they grow around here for ornimentals. and i have been praying for the weather to either stay cold or to get warm it plays havoc with my sinisus!(prefer the warm weather). hope all yall out there in nanaland had a great christmas.

p.s. most of tn is big o, but on my 3/4 acre is the big blue and orange....sorry bigdog, you know i had to do it!!

I received the super dwarf cavendish from logees on the 24rth. I transplanted it today the 26th to a bigger pot. I am surprised how nice and how big it looks.

Today my friend David from: www.montosogardens.com came down from the mountains and gave me huge bundles of my favorite Croton. (visit the web-site, he offers several rare Bananas, many Heliconis and rare fruit trees ! I stayed up till 10 trimming leaves to get ready for sticking cuttings tomorrow.

On the news today . . . Man in Mayaguez Puerto Rico attacted by pet Lion, rushed to Hospital but was release cause injuries were just multiple scratches ! Man in San Juan was robed and beaten by two women today, and is in critical condition at hospital. I think this proves that women are very dangerous !!

rooted two different types of junipers in the spahgum moss. Two sticks per 4" pot. I forgot when to check them to see if they're either rooting or rotting! Will go back and read about that later. I've never done this before.

If I can make this work it'll save us sooo much money!!

I'm going to do it! We have afew wild dogwoods and I'd like to someday have LOTS of them! I'll have to eventually break down and buy a pink one though as these wild ones are all white. I'm so excited about being able to do this in the winter.

That's actually illegal in Virginia because it is the state tree, unless the tree is diseased. Pretty sure at least.

Unhappy Re: What did you plant today (other plants)?

taylor, i know its illegal there to cut dogwoods, its the states' flowering tree. its kind of like bad ju-ju!!!but i live in tn. and i want to have more dogwoods and i dont want to pay the 45 dollars for a 2 yr.old tree. i have a sacred reverance for these trees. i lived in va. most of my life( here, there, everywhere in va.) so i know the implications of that. why do you think im having such a hard time with cutting my trees. almost makes me cry to think of cutting it, but i would like to have more.

its not out of context what you said. your just concerned about the trees and the cutting of them. i understand 100%!!!! i love these trees they are one of the most beautiful flowing trees ive ever seen. they have simple and clean lines to them and the smell is just barely visible.so i know and i understand.

We have a Pink and Multiple Whites.

Actually- we get whites popping up in really random places (Birds...!) and we still don't cut them down. Thinking about transplanting 2 Whites this winter....to where? Who Knows! I need to plant my Japanese Red Maple that is from seed from our big Japanese Red Maple that died 2 years ago for unknown reasons along with all of the neighbors ones....except for the lacey-leaf ones.

Weird...
