i couldnt tell you about the iris but the rose is an old fashioned cabbage rose.i have 2 bushes of the cabbage roses. one came with the house and one i recieved as a trade. its funny how both bushes are the same color. the iris' are some that i steefed...i mean got out of my moms yard. and some i bought at walley world eons ago. the light lavander i got at walleyworld, the maroon and light mauve ones i got at my moms, i dont remember where i got the maroon and coffee colored ones at. if i see some in someones yard...i dig up a bunch of mine and i go for a visit.

where did i find room? simple. i dug up iris', daffies, roses and some other stuff and gave them to my best freind. i have one musa lateria(bronze ornate), one ornate lavander, ornate green, 2 basjoos and 3 d.oronicos planted in the front yard. on the side top yard i have 2 basjoos,2 dc,1 musella lasiocarpa planted, and then about 3 ft. from my fence row i have 1 musa lateria(bronze) and 2 lavander planted. i have holes dug out for my oronico and my saba and they are going on my fence row. and i still have nanas that will stay in pots. they will overwinter in the house, just in case. i live on a corner lot and i have a lot of room in the front yard and on both sides of the house. thankyou for the compliment. when i moved into this house the only thing growing was tomatoe plants in a burnt out tree. now i have peony, glads, purple cone flower and bee balm growing in the burnt out tree.

my maroon roses, fairy roses, peonies( my white ones have opened, but my pink, and pink and orange are still closed), red hot pokers, and my yellow bearded iris"( i forgot i had yellow) lol! and new leaves on my nanas. can it get any better then this??? well if i had fruit on my nanas i guess.but im happy to see new leaves on them. will post pics later. wahoo!!!!!:w oohoonaner:. banana happy dance!

i find that the older roses ( not hybrids) are less attractive to most bad bugs. i would rather have old fashioned flowers and roses just for that reason. they also look more elegant(jmo). i love hybrid teas but they are a lot of trouble and i have had lots of problems with them here in tn. i dont like chemical warfare in my yard so i try to let the benificials do my work for me. lol. it makes my gardening life a little easier.

'Well - these are not strictley in my garden but are everywhere and just gorgeous - the local name is Carolina, and they have realy girly flowers.
Cassie'
Your tree is called a Shaving Brush Tree in Florida. The fancy name that the whole world uses is Bombax ellipticum. We have some that are pure white in our area, I looked at some of the replies and they all seemed to be wrong. Hope I didn't step on any ones toes. It's a tropical tree that grows too big for most back yards.
