Happy Thanks Giving ....

I just put my turkey into the roaster oven at 180 deg F for the night after being in a slow grill/smoker (pecan wood) for 2 hours. The skin is a light golden brown now and will be a dark mahogany brown by morning and very moist & juicy with internal temp of 165 deg to 180 deg F. Total cooking time about 12 to 14 hrs. ... nothing to to do now but wait. ... Dinner at 12 noon.

Aww, thanks! Hope you had a great one too!

That’s funny about the Jamaican sorrel! You know I’ve never heard of that before! Looks quite interesting!

Okay, so this is one of my steam roasted maple-almondine turkeys. Not to be confused with the one I accidentally smoked inside the oven that one time...

First pic is what it looks like cooked and about to fall apart. Pic 2 is the pile of meat and on the plate is the pile of bones I picked out of it. It literally falls off the bone. You only need to forks to carve it. You've heard of pulled pork? Well, this is pulled turkey. Takes about 10 hours at 350; similar to Edwmax's method.

Hey Snarkie! So, I actually get to to see you’re famous maple-almondine turkey looks like! It still cracks me up that you accidentally made a smoked turkey once!

Ooh, that turkey looks so yummy! Good enough to eat! I can’t believe it just falls of the bone practically! Yes I’ve heard of pulled pork but not pulled turkey before! OMG! The turkey takes 10 hours to make....Wow! Very impressive! So you must be a really great cook!

Since I was mentioned .... this is what my turkey looked like. Unforgettably I didn't take a picture of this year's turkey, but this is another one a couple of years ago.

I did 2 turkeys in this cooking. The next image is the other one ready to be delivered for Thanksgiving dinner/Lunch with friends.

As you can see that electric roaster does a hell'of job finishing a turkey (or beef brisket) that was only on the smoker grill for 1 1/2 or 2 hours; then in the roaster for the rest of the night at 170 deg temp setting. ... I went to sleep and didn't baby sit a grill or smoker all night. And the temp on the roaster is so low the turnkey wont burn if left in there for a extra couple of hours. I do put a pint of water into the roaster to start. So the turkey is not dry roasted and the smoke is from pecan wood.

Looks good! Yes, it is always better to have the smoke come from the pecan wood as opposed to the turkey itself!

Hey Max! Both your turkeys look great! I bet they were delicious! Quite impressed with both yours & Doug’s cooking! Very nice! Thanks for sharing your pictures as well!
