no spider mites indoors this year
they always loved this plant

(keeping on top of a small scale(mealybug) problem but almost pest free this year)

It could be one of those low chill varieties

i brought it inside last night because it may be -10c overnight tonight
the newest two leafs were pretty mushy
i cut them as low as i could
i am pretty confident that it is just fine and will start growing after an adjustment period

you must have a strong back.

but for all you efforts I do not think it will survive cause it looks like it snows inside your house too.

voici le mien, planté il y a 5 ans.
été 2016 il était magnifique avec un feuillage superbe et luxuriant.
été 2017 je n'ai eu que des fleurs avec très peu de feuillage, même les petits bébés étaient en fleurs.
Ce printemps on a arraché tous les pseudo troncs morts et rajouté du compost puis planté un nouveau au centre. L'ancien a fait très peu de rejets.
Le Sikkimensis à gauche doit faire 4,5m minimum en haut du feuillage.

et le voici au moment de la préparation pour l'hiver

well my plant is pretty hurting right now
the mushiness goes deep
it needs a haircut
i cut the centre out with a knife as there was rot in there
in a couple days i will trim it some more
for now it has some cedar branches to give the decorations something to hang off

in chasing the rot i cut into something more yellow looking in the centre
i will still try to revive it
before haircut:

it was looking promising at first:

i kept chasing the rot in the centre

water was pooling in the centre so i cut a drainage channel

i may have cut into the flower bud
the very centre looked yellowish
also it was rotten quite far down

i wont give up on it but it certainly does not look good right now

how tall is the pstem and how big did it get over all before flowering?
i have some seeds but none have germinated yet

The pseudostem is 24" and the flower diameter is 14". It may interest you to know that the flower has a lot of nectar that sort of tastes like corn syrup on pancakes.
