I've put my banana plants out on the balcony now that it's warmer in the UK, but my Musa basjoo is looking wilty and its leaves are spotty. Is this:

Too much water
Not enough water
Too much sunlight
Pest
Other?

I'm trying to let them dry out before rewatering, and I'm feeding them very dilute seaweed fertiliser once a week. They've never been outdoors before last week, and it's never got below around 9℃ at night.

1) Make sure the pot is draining excess water OUT. And water only when the middle & bottom of the pot spoil is near dry. Use a long stem moisture meter.



2) The plant looks yellow, which indicates a lack of nitrogen. Add 1 or 2 tablespoons of vegetable type dry fertilizer (it's slow dissolving) to the top of the soil. Seaweed fertilizer can be good if you know what the NPK is. Some manufactures don't give this info on these type of fertilizers. The seaweed should be good for nitrogen but the plant is lacking and showing yellow. So your seaweed mix is suspect/questionable. ... Also, get a water soluble fertilizer like Miracle Grow (in the States) and apply by misting the leaves every 3 or 4 days until green again; then apply about 7 to 10 days afterwards.


3) The browning edges of the leaf is the indication of over watering. There is a little browning but not much. Cut back on water to the soil just mist the plant if the temps are hot and the leaves wilt.

Good looking small plant..
When kept indoors ... Most tropical plants look like that.
Banana plants included.

The plant will sort itself out in a few months on your balcony.
The plant need as much sunlight as possible.
Keep that plant on the dry side .......looks like you sunlight is low on the Uk
horizon for a bit more....
