![]() Hi, my Grand Nain suffered from the winter and it had some troubles unfolding the leaves. Increasing the humidity and manually (gently) helping them didn' t work, so I decided to cut off the last portion. Then I repotted in a much larger pot and noticed it was rootbound. After that it started growing better and gave 2 suckers. Now again it gave 1 leaf smaller than the previous one and a new one yet to unfirl. The problem is the penultimate is not fully out and the new one got stuck to that one, so one ripped and the other one curved.
I post the photos in the gallery so it's more clear what i'm saying ![]() Someone has some guesses on what is going on? Ps : there are many leaves damaged: the lowers are the oldest (i left them after cutting the top)and the others are damaged 'cause there was a naughty little caterpillar chewing the tip of the new leaves and i didn't see him in time ![]() |

![]() I am not at all familiar with your climate but have these bananas been exposed to any cooler temperatures or allowed to dry out? Bananas are known for a condition called "choke". When the banana plant is exposed to cooler temperatures or allowed to dry out it will stress the plant and the leaves or the bloom can get stuck in the trunk.

![]() We had maybe one week that was cooler then the previous, but it went just one or 2 nights at 18-19, for the rest of the time the minimum at night was 20-22.
Dry out? I usually think i overwater them, also cause they go into guttation a lot of time. And all the others ( 6 banana plants ) that are in smaller pots are fine and i usually water them the same time, i just give the big one more. Nothing can be excluded, maybe i don' t let it permeate enough, i can' t be 100 % sure. PS : thanks for the answer ![]() Last edited by Xanthopteryx : 08-25-2023 at 07:18 PM. |
