Hi,
I have only had my banana plant under a week and the edges and curled up a bit and stated to turn yellow. One of the leave at the bottom has turn completely yellow. Please can someone help with the health of my plant. I was told to move it as it could be the Sun and it could be because I've over watered the plant. The soil is moist but not wet and sogy. If I am doing something wrong please can someone let me know. I have included pictures below. Thanks for your help in advance! |

The plant looks good, you will have some plant shock. It could be over watering also, does that pot drain well or does it hold water in the bottom? Don't let the pot sit in water.

Hi, Thank you for your reply.
Yes, so I have taken out of that pot as it holds water and I think it is absorbing the drained water from that pot. My main worry is that it is curling up and going yellow and do I get rid of the yellow leaf. Sorry for so many questions, I am a first time owner of a banana plant. If its any helpful it is the canavdish one. |

Get it out of the standing water and the plant will sort itself out in time, yellow and old leaves can be cut off.

Plants do this when it is hot and with the oldest leaves that have served their purpose.

I agree with Cincinanna that the plant looks good. Maybe I am missing something in the pics, but I don't see anything I would be overly concerned about. That little yellow leaf at the bottom is an early leaf and its completely normal for plants to shed them when they don't need them anymore. Definitely follow the advice given, but no need to stress.

Thank you, it feels so much better knowing I am stressing over nothing and that it is okay.
I have attached another picture and this is the top of the plant. The tip of the leaf has gone yellow, brown colour and I was wondering whether I am doing anything wrong or if its not getting enough water etc. I have taken the yellow leaf off now. Thank you so much for your help all. |

As far as I am concerned that is nothing to worry about, I see it frequently on my plants and the leaves come out just fine. Keep an eye on it of course and if the leaf itself looks funky, then post an update, otherwise, imho, no worries.
