| Banana Seed Germination Forum As one of the toughest seeds in the plant kingdom to figure out the keys to germination success with, this is a forum with banana seed germination tips. Please entitle posts like "Musa balbisiana," or "Musa cheesmani," etc. People would then post a reply under that heading, sharing their germination successes (and failures), what materials and methods they used, germination percentage, etc. |

I had 20 seeds of E Glaucum. I soaked all of them for about 3 days. 10 of them I sanded a lot, roughing up the coat as much as I could. The other 10 I left alone. The first one to sprout was one of the sanded ones.
I also did this with some Helen's Hybrid. I just had a Helen's that I sanded sprout. I think this is the way I'm going from now on. It was the method that always worked for me in the past before I stopped doing it for some reason. Probably being lazy! Eric |

Thanks for sharing your experiment Eric - I got 4-5 varieties of banana seeds this year. Last year I had great germination success with Lotus seed I put to the electric grinder first before putting them in water. Now you have persuaded me to do the same with this year's banana seeds. Hope the rest of yours sprout for you too!

Thanks Max! Yeah I have some Burmese Blue, more Formosana and something else I did it with that I just planted so I'm curious to see how those go too. I hope some more germinate too.
Thanks for your feedback on the Lotus. I really apprciate it! I hope it worked well for you too. Eric |
