These just arrived yesterday. 3 tissue cultures, they look great ! So i put them in these pots to get them use to the sunshine . Im sure they are use to sun but wanted to keep them where I can keep an eye on them.. before I stick them in the ground!

Mekong Giant from Brian. Really looking forward to this. Supposedly pretty hardy. Considering leaving it out this coming winter. Choices, choices.

"Belle" from Jon (pitangadiego) and "maybe Mona Lisa" from Tony (sunfish). Kept them in pots for 5 weeks so they had healthy, new roots before I put them in the ground. Great roots on both. It's probably an unnecessary step, but it keeps me from worrying about overwatering a newly barerooted plant in the ground.

That seems to be the common thread that we all share- where to squeeze in another one (or three) bananas, etc.

I have to stop buying more. I have 26 banana varieties at the moment plus a whole host of citrus, other tropical fruit (mango, papaya, etc.), palms, cannas, flowering vines, heliconias, Alocasia, Caladium, Jade vines, orchids. I need to stop! My wife says its going to be either her or the plants - and the plants are wining.

I planted a variegated Musa Basjoo that I chopped back . It was so lanky and weak in its pot; I hope it has more vigor now that I planted it in the ground.

Two Musa Ornata "Red" seedlings.
They came out of the seeds after 6 weeks in perlite.
Stems just over 2 cm (ca 1 inch)
Greetings,

Just acquired this Gros Michel 'Cocos'. I hope it grows well. The corm has good size on it, so I'm confident it will begin to take off soon.

I did a little work for a neighbor ! Wile I was there I convinced her she needed Bananas in her back yard its about a ½ acre so plenty of room for banana plants . She asked what I wanted to plant her bananas … So I added a Dwarf-Orinoco and Ice Cream to her order ..

Oh I might as well go ahead and brag on myself.. I made another 12 station hydro table last week just got it done yesterday and its in place ready for tomatoes and whatever else I decide on .. In this part of Florida its now growing season . then I replant in January /February also

Also planted Mustard Greens!
This summer I went to Chinese food store ! All the peeps were buying a melon for $2.25 per pound . So I bought one to see why so many peeps were talking in Chinese and smiling wile buying the melon ! BINGO it was very good big score for me because I saved seeds and I planted 4 mounds today in the rain .. Woo Hoo ! Think they are called “winter” melon saw a pic online

Hi,

in the future I will stay in Brazil for 4 to 5 months every year, from November to February, I'm partly retired and have one part time job from March to October every year, it is better for me because of my health. Yesterday my friend Helton from Frutas Raras visited me and brought me many banana pups and many fruit trees.

Today I planted:
Musa ornata x velutina from Anestor
Musa thomsonii
Musa sikkimensis
Musa itinerans
Musa microcarpa
Musa mannii
Musa Figo alias Orinoco
Musa unknown from very large seeds
Musa unknown wild species, probably one form of itinerans
Ensete ventrichosum

Tomorrow and in the next days I will plant the rest:
Musa Mysore (is very good here and one even fruits, therefore 2 more new pups, now total 4 plants)
Musa Figo alias Orinoco (one specimen more and transplant other bad grown 2 specimens to grow better, total 4 plants)
Musa Pacovão
Musa Terra
Ensete ventrichosum (two are already planted today, the third will be planted tomorrow or in the next days)
Musa itinerans "Blue Java"

I gave Helton one pup from Musa basjoo for Frutas Raras. He will propagate and grow to try to produce seeds.

Best wishes from Brazil

This week I planted an 'ele 'ele, Praying Hands, Monkey Fingers, with a FHIA-18 tomorrow and an African Rhino Horn on the way. Still just a few left on my list to get and running out of room in the yard!
Also ended up planting a Dwarf Namwah, which I also tried for the first time, and think it might be my new favorite, along with a green Kru, because the red version I haven't been able to find. Any time of year is a good time to plant here in Hawaii. It's been a wet winter so far after 2 dry ones so everything has been growing like crazy. Also tried my first Awak, Kluay Khai, Cardaba, Hua Moa, and another the seller called Berry, but who knows what that really was. There were about 10 ripe varieties to try at my farmers' market.

Over the past few days I planted 3 Dwarf Brazilians. One was an 8 ft pup I received from a member on this site. Also planted a Mysore, an Ice Cream and Williams Hybrid. I'll post pics later.
