variegated musa florida grow tent

I finally managed to get my hands on this plant. I received the corm mid August, I planted it in 50% ericaceous compost and 50% perlite. I almost gave up on it as there was no growth for abouth 3 weeks. I took it out of the pot and saw 3 healthy roots and so I put it back in the compost. Shortly after, a tiny little variegated leaf has unfurled and I was ecstatic, not only it was finally growing but I knew for sure it's a variegated florida

Temperatures began to drop in September (I live in the Northwest UK) so I wanted to support its growth and let it establish before winter so I purchased a grow tent. I used a 24W full spectrum Sansi light, a cheap 500W oil filled radiator and a small fan. I kept the average daytime temperature between 28-30 degrees C and added humidifier and kept humidity at around 60-70%. I keep the light on 12 hours a day. Current soil ph is 6,5 which I am trying to lower by applying sulfur. I'm not an expert but this setup has been working for me pretty well. It's growing pretty fast at a rate of one leaf per week. Initially I was fertilising with azalea and rhododendron feed from miracle gro but I managed to get two boxes of now discontinued Miracid from USA, as I heard it's good and I can confirm it's excellent. Since I started using Miracid the leaves are bigger and more variegated (apparently there's no connection between fertilizer and variegation, variegation is genetic but I have read on the forums that Miracid does help, I did see the difference but maybe it's just natural way the plant grows, who knows). I did have a fungus gnats invasion which was succesfully treated with neem oil and sticky traps and there was some tiny insects on its leaves which I just hose down. Some leaves have suffered fertilizer burn so I dilute it more now. I hope this helps anyone that's interested in growing this plant in non tropical climates and I would love to hear your experiences with it, especially growing it with artificial light. I love watching it grow, I get so excited when new leaves unfurl.
