So today Ive separated a load of pups and am looking to transplant them to other locations in my yard...How long should I wait before planting them?I have read about a bunch of different methods, Some say plant immediately,Some say let the wound scab and cut all the leaves off before planting, Others say plant into a pot for 3 weeks before replanting....What's everybody's favorite method? All the pups have plenty of roots and are 3-6ft tall...

Stick em the ground and move on.

Plant as is, with leaves, etc. immediately. If there are too many leaves, the plant will figure it out. Leaves provide energy to grew new roots, etc. Some people suggest letting cut areas callus for a few days. Have never done that, and have not have a problem.

Sure, you can cut it down to just a corm, but why make the plant work harder?

I have noticed across the globe people/farmers have different ways to plant these plants.
It is amazing to see folks adapt and use the same practices for years.

For me I separate the pup with as much undisturbed root ball as I can get and then immediately replant in a tilled well amended prepared hole lightly dusted with 19-19-19 fertilizer.

For containers I do similar. The pup is removed with all the soil and roots undisturbed and intact and placed into a new prepared container.
The void left in the original container is then filled with fresh soilless mix and the process starts over.
