So I have bananas. Question.
Years ago I ordered what fast growing trees advertised as blue java. Ice cream banana. I've babied it for two years. Digging it up and bringing it a spare room with grow lights when it gets cool. Planting it when it warms up. It must have weighed close to 300lbs when I brought it in last year.
So now I have bananas coming in fast. According to Google it should take up to 150 days to ripen. I think that puts it in November. So for my question, how should I fertilize now that it's fruiting? How often should I water? Anything I should know? |

Re: So I have bananas. Question.
Ive heard many say to just fertilize with potassium when a plant is fruiting.. you can use muriate of postash/sulphate of potash. Do you have a picture of your plant? What zone are you growing in? Most "ice cream" bananas are namwah.. so look at the info for ripening time on those as well.. either way, congrats, and good luck!

Re: So I have bananas. Question.
Is there a particular type of potash that I can find on Amazon that's recommended?
I'm trying to figure out how to upload a picture... |
