Question about growing bananas.

As bananas grow larger, do the leaves turn a lighter green?

Lighter green shows lack of sufficient nutrients. Fert by the pound - not the tablespoon!!! If it's in a small pot go back to the teaspoon. lol

Hi,

Ordinarily they shouldn't. If you aren't running into a temperature, water or disease problem; one of the most likely explanations is that rapid growth is depleting some nutrient(s) in the rhizosphere - that portion of the soil that is under the influence of the roots.

This can happen in potted plants...especially if the pot is relatively small and the growth rates are rapid. But it can happen too in ordinary soil.

Perhaps a bit of fertiliser or nutrient-rich compost might help. Don't forget trace elements!

They shouldn't. A picture is worth a thousand words in this case. Possibly over/under fertilized or over/under watered. Could be a lot of things, to be honest. Put up a pic and you'll get much better responses.

The more I look my naner just appears to be growing ok except now it's trying to grow sideways

How old and how large is it? Leaning is often a sign of a banana getting ready to flower, but sometimes also a sign of too low light, and the plant is leaning towards the main light source. (usually just in indoor/dim settings)

That would be a quick flower lol. I have had it since early July.
Well the leaning for light may make sense because I keep it in partial shade. Late afternoon to evening the Sun shines directly on it.
