Default Scottish grow...

Story so far...
Bought Dwarf Cavandish seeds off ebay and used a heat mat through 20c to 28c fluctuations...months later none sprouted. Cheated and bought a small DC from ebay which went really well. It grew to about 1 foot til winter when I brought it indoors and it shriveled up in the spare room but was revived by a 400w HPS light so I stopped using the light then it shriveled up again...then I binned it. Now I know they can be kept dormant through winter, so may have thrown the best cold hardiness cavandish known to humanity in the bin...ohwell.
I now have these 2 Dwarf Cavandish's...the one on the right was cut from the left and survived...looks a bit less healthy but has struggled through.

Bought this Musa Banjoo but leaves were cut for postage reasons and I transplanted it to a bigger pot today.

Since its still summer...can I chop it right down and let it grow again to start from scratch as it would look better or is it best to let it settle in for a few weeks to gain energy then cut it? Will there be enough summer time for it to make new leaves before winter or should I just leave it?
When a banana plant actually fruits in this country it literly hits the news it's that rare so would be good to at least get the Banjoo to fruit. Got some Icecream seeds coming from Canada as I heard they were cold hardy but will see.

dc and ice creams do not have seeds. you got took. I bought the dc seeds way back when, kinda look like grass seeds don't they? they will not grow either. you will get nothing. some bananas have seeds but they are mostly ornamental. the bananas you would eat do not have seeds. you have to buy plants or corms. sorry

The DC seeds looked like the usual hard black seeds the size of a pea so who knows what they really were. Better try and get a refund for those javas then.

Also, the two potted plants do not look like Dwarf Cavendish. The wine markings are not there (but that might be environment related) and the leaves are too small and to close together. The plants should be a taller with wider leaf spacing, a little more like the 3rd plant. Cavendish does not pup when that young. So the second plant must have been another TC stuck to the first.

You've been had! A refund is not likely, so grow the plants to find out what you got. Throw away the seeds and don't waster your time with them.

Luckily seller has not sent seeds yet as he is away til 1st Aug. Yeah I thought the DCs looked different...too bunched up and has no purple on leaves like last time. They are only a couple months old and had lack of fertiliser as I used pre-used compost but they are growing nice now with some 7-7-7 and 5-5-15 NPK (I think) added. Think next time I will stick to proper supplier and not a private seller.

Use someone on here with a good reputation as a seller. Nurseries are notoriously mistaken (I am being kind) on their orders.

Varieties I supposedly bought: Manzano, Cavendish, Blue Java, Sweetheart, and Gros Michel.
What it seems I actually have: Brazilian, Cavendish, Namwah, Dwarf Red, Gros Michel, Pisang Ceylon, Veinte Cohol and SH 3640, and American Goldfinger. FHIA 1, Paggi and FHIA 17... Always room for one more.

The two plants do resemble a Truly Tiny, but my TT's have a lot of red wine stains which is lacking on your plants. The commercial TT's are Cavendish variety. ... I suspect your little plants are dwarf ornamental types; grow'em to see what they are. If the two turns out to be super dwarf Brazilian (aka: the real Truly Tiny), I want one!

Looks like a super dwarf. As more leaves grow and the plants get larger you will know for sure. All super dwarfs are from the exact same clone of Musa dwarf cavendish that was experimented on with radiation creating the first Musa super dwarf cavendish. After that first (Musa Novak) many many people and companies have found tiny "mutations" in theirs and were able to get a patents on them such as Truly Tiny, Little Prince, and many many many more.

The research I have done shows there to have never been any other varieties of super dwarf except from that exact clone of dwarf cavendish. I really really wish there was a super dwarf brazillian or any other variety but there is no evidence I can find of one. Sadly.

Also if there was a super dwarf brazillian it wouldn't have seeds! It would be a mutated dwarf brazillian.
