I got this in spring/summer as an unknown variety from Cuba that supposedly produces seedless fruits. Seems like a Fe'i to me in everything but it's not big enough to check for sap color(don't wanna risk damaging it at that small size). I ground planted it last weekend to help it grow faster hopefully and find out what it is soon! I love Fe'i but all of mine died in a cold and wet winter(their very first one in the ground) despite being in the ground. They rotted on site... Hope this one is a Fe'i but has better future in the protected spot I chose for it. Maybe the others just weren't set for a winter as wet and cool as the one they saw.

Good luck, we managed to get 5 plants to fruit and waiting for our Cuban Apple, Manzano, to finish. The fingers are starting to plump so it may not be too long for them to be removed. It was a light winter last year and hope this one is the same. The Raji and the Dwarf Brazilian and are still small bunch but hopefully they will ripen also. Good growing.

What is it? It's flowering at about 4,5-5m pseudostem height

Is this just a M. basjoo or is there a chance it's another species? The seller generally knew his bananas and wasn't trying to scam... but everything can happen

It is not worth growing for fruit, but is nice for other purposes such as leaves for cooking and fibers for quick garden ties.

Thank you Brad. I am pretty disappointed its basjoo as its sitting in prime estate where I would prefer more sensitive and rare plants/bananas. I don't really need hat much of a cold tolerance here thankfully
