Hi,
in the past days I found a second good source for bananas in Brazil, in Herculandia near Lucianópolis, Duartina and Bauru. You know, that I have a chácara with a large yard in Lucianópolis in Brazil. I found in the sortiment of this nursery several banana cultivars and will order Musa "Mysore", Musa "Java" and other cultivars. But I surmise that Musa "Java" is one another name for "Blue Java" or "Ice Cream". @lorax, do you know "Java"? Is this one alias name of "Ice Cream" in Brazil? If yes, this is a searched cultivar for my yard, because I may not import "Ice Cream" to Brazil because of the importation prohibition for bananas of 17th May 2005 for Brazil. Then I must order "Java" in Herculandia, but I must be sure, that this is also one alias name for "Ice Cream". Best thanks in advance. Best wishes Basjoofriend

The Ice Cream or Java Blue is very resistant to Black sigatoka but susceptible to fusarium. Fusarium is a major concern in banana production in your area. Hope this helps. Best wishes.
