Default Mid February Status

I literally did nothing to protect my plants this year. It was bumping 80 degrees right up to New Years Day weekend (we even swam in the pool) but after that we had a pretty cold January. As low as 20 degrees a few days and several more in the upper 20s/lower 30s. It looks like I had great success other than a couple, my Sumatrana X and Zebrina was mush to the ground and DC and D Reds are iffy but some I did not count on lost no height at all from last year including a truly tiny, praying hands, blue java, patupi, lacatan, thai black and viente cohol. Looking forward to a great season.

Looking good down there.
Your grow zones are a few months ahead.

Still somewhat cool up north.

If not for the multiple overnights in the low 20s we'd have really been golden but hey I'll take it. Looking ahead its 70s or better for highs. Stay warm up there.

What was the lowest y’all got down to up there?

I think we got down to 27 one Saturday night and then 24 the following Saturday. But it’s been in the 80s all week down here and although they lost all their leaves they’ve already shot out new ones.

We saw 19.999 one night and more that too many in the mid to upper 20s but it should be smooth sailing from here on. Didn't lose an inch on the praying hands, patupi and most shocking the truly tiny. Many others the same. It will be a good year

They're saying 27 up here. So crazy. You wouldn't believe my oranges and tangelos!! I'm covering those and bringing in what I can. The naked bloom, ehh whatever it's a dead man walking anyway. Sheesh.

Yo Strick!
Haven't been on in a bit but I'm glad your nanners made it through!

Mine pretty much look identical. The 28F winter storm is what nuked mine.

I was very surprised with my Veinte Cohol got very minimal damage besides the leaves and was one of the first ones to start growing again.
Seems to be just as cold hardy as Orinoco, Blue Java, Namwa

Also surprisingly the Grand Nain I got from you is continuing to grow from the same plants and they weren't very big to begin with. Like 1 ft p-stem since I moved them into the ground late last year and yet somehow they survived instead of dying back like I thought they would.

Dwarf Cavendish on the other hand seems to be more cold sensitive only the pups survived and they were much bigger also.

Amazing those didn't die back I have to start over every year.

we had one last blast a little over a week ago. My citrus was ROLLING and all took a hit. Everything was good and it got down to like 22 ONE night and really wiped some stuff out. So crazy how one night can do so much damage. Still things are perking back up, didn't lose an inch on your Orinoco, praying hands, VC, Mekong, basjoo, black thai or any of the ferrigno clan. The naked bloom is starting to unfold. I'll keep it around and see what it does.

here it is as of yesterday:

The bloom should be a neat thing to watch.
