Lou Ferrigno Jr.
From my limited experience and knowledge gained from some awesome growers on this site, I believe that this one is a water sucker. Granted it is a baller of a water sucker if indeed that's what it is but Lou does nothing small. There are 2 more giants like this still attached and 2 smaller ones popping up and one of the small ones looks very much like a sword.
Either way I believe I can grow this one as the roots were super thick and healthy. I am still incredibly amazed by this plant which will have been in the ground 4 months on Oct 10. Last edited by wstrickland1 : 10-04-2020 at 02:06 PM. |

Re: Lou Ferrigno Jr.
What I have noticed is that young namwa (In my experience) don't make suckers with long, narrow leaves. They make what you see here, which means it is a good one. Water suckers are a completely different animal and it is easy to tell. If you are trying to decide if it is a water sucker or not for more than about ten seconds, it probably isn't a water sucker. Lol The water suckers are so weak looking. All of the pups my original namwa made looked like that. I recently harvested a bunch from one of those, good strong plant. Kind of confused.... Some namwa make thin leaves on the swords and some not..... |

Re: Lou Ferrigno Jr.
You will also notice that water suckers that come up will be eclipsed my pups (swords) that's come up months later. I had a water and a sword come up AR the same time. Several months later, water was about a foot tall, sword about six feet...

I know I sound like a broken record but to think all of that was a tiny tissue culture less than 4 months ago is mind boggling. I'm estimating the pstem at over 7' with 3 gigantic pups and more popping up. I'm amazed it just doesn't seem possible. |

Re: Lou Ferrigno Jr.
The crazy thing is that I got a super healthy namwah pup from a local grower and while it is growing it has been a slow process. This pup is almost as big as that already. I know the forum is probably tired of me talking about it but what happened with this thing is staggering. Oh and it was supposed to be an blue java

The Dwarf Namwa I got in March this year as a TC from Wellspring Gardens. It is about 4' tall right now. The Tall Namwa is a pup I got from a seller on Ebay after the first one I got did not take root. It has already put out 3 leaves so I'm actually going to put it on the ground today even though it's already late in the year. We still have some warm weather in south texas for a bit so I'm hoping it gets a chance to grow like yours did before winter hits.
