![]() It's been awhile
![]() ![]() Hope everyone is doing well and had a great Thanksgiving ![]() Of course I have to give a report on how the nanners are doing. Especially being that this is my first year with them// overwintering--unless you count the SDC that I got last Jan/Dec. Something like this. Wow it's already been that long!? The Ensete Maurelli will get its own thread-- ![]() Firstly, the Super Dwarf Cavendish-- Well *somehow*!!! It got the dreaded *censored censored* spider mites! I kept it indoors for the specific reason to avoid this....I'm guessing they came in through the screen.Grrrr None of the other plants in that room have them. Oh no. They homed in right on it. Unfortunatly I didn't catch it in time...I noticed the leaves looking tired and yellowing but I figured it was the sudden cold weather and lack of sunshine. I made the decision to just chop off all the leaves. Trying to rid mites off a plant where the leaves are that large and stacked so closely together...Yeah..not happening. And I worried about the pup. So..CHOP. (weep!) It IS pushing growth through the pseudostem at least. The main plant you see is the pup it sprouted early this summer. If you look closely the new growth from the chopped mother p-stem can be seen. ![]() Next is the Dwarf Namwah. Given its rough start, I sorta expected it to do poorly inside. However it's doing great! Still growing, though slower. ![]() Sumatrana X Cross is also doing great. The red is actually very vivid but isn't showing well in the poor lighting. I will probably re-take this photo. The red on the Zebrina meanwhile has faded drasticlly. Some leaves reverted to green. Again poor lighting and I will probably re take. But again at least healthy. ![]() Now the AeAe! Unfortunally the larger one (I think) bit the dust. Just had no time at all to re establish in her new home :/ All the things AeAe need and love were nipped shortly after arrival with an unsually early cold and wet late summer/fall. I feel horrible actually, as she was a very healthy plant! And at first started to grow liek crazy when she did get sun and heat! Dangit. But next year I will try again, earlier in the season (hopefully), ofcourse! The smaller pups are still alive so far. They were actually growing slowly, but once the days got super short the green died back. But the corm and roots are still fine so I am thinking they might wake come spring.. Crossing fingers! I realize this pic is also a bit poor and you can barely make out the brown clump of pups. But they're there ![]() ![]() On to Ensete ![]() |
