It hit 57 here today!!! I was so happy...felt amazing! Had my windows WIDE OPEN to enjoy the fresh air (well, as fresh as north-county St. Louis is capable of LOL). The forecast didn't even say it was supposed to be over 40...guess they messed up, huh? Well, next week says mid 30's for the highs, so no spring yet. And still no robins.

It's been great here too. I've had the heat off during the day for 3 days now! This winter has been so bad that we've been using wood heat lately to bring down the electric bill.
The grow lights, fan, humidifier and space heater in the spare bedroom/plant room have NOTHING to do with this problem! I love to play with the fire anyway, poking at it and putting wood on. |

We were COLD today, about 58 for a high. And in the 15 day forecast, every day is below averages at least 5-10 degrees. This year sucks..
Well, if we're cold, east should be warm as we are always opposite... good for you guys!

Don't worry the Robins and Cardinals are hanging out down here for a couple weeks. I had a whole tree full of cardinals yesterday.. We're almost out of the woods.. maybe after next week we won't see no more 30's @ night.

Hmmm....cardinals stay here year round. Wonder why there are so many down south. The 'first robin of spring' is usually a pretty good indicator that spring is here. Then again, I've seen a ton of them come up here, then it snowed for several more weeks and they looked miserable and starved. It's a little difficult to find bugs and worms on the ground when it'd covered by a foot of snow, huh? I felt bad for em.

It was so nice to see Bluebirds(my first) and Robins and Cardinals in Tennessee on my recent travels. The campground at Clarksville had quite a few all looking for seeds etc. I so miss early mornings hearing the birds sing, guess I have to wait a bit longer

I had bluebirds that nested in a birdhouse in my yard over 10 yrs ago and I haven't seen one since. Last yr was the first time I saw a bluejay & orioles!!
My plants are ready for Spring as much as me! I am getting new growth on my figs, brugs, & I think I see 2 guavas starting blossoms for fruit! It's too early for that. We had more snow today --not much but it was heavy to shovel.

Yeah, I woke up to snow on the ground this morning. It's 21F (-6C) here right now. At this point, though, it doesn't even feel that cold to me....that's the beauty of it...after you experience winter so long, it doesn't feel nearly as bad as temps half that cold did in the fall! And spring is gonna feel AMAZING when it comes! Gotta love it when 40's and 50's are a HEATWAVE and you wanna put shorts on LOL

I'm pretty Happy I overlooked the fact that tonight is last night it actually is going to freeze for the next ten days.. We shouldn't be freezin' in the first place thus is life. :^) If it doesn't change the chances of a freeze is getting minuet. Bring on some gulf stream breezes.. It's not like the sun isn't out & warm, just isn't getting any help.. yet :^)

We got dumped on with 7 inches snow. This time it came from NE so then we get that 'lake effect'.

Storms along advancing cold front dropped golfball sized hail on neighboring Martin county today. Big time wind gusts knocked down old big trees and a trampoline got picked up and wrapped around a powerline according to the 11PM news. I didn't see any of it here at home in PSL - prolly cause I'm 10 miles inland - just wind and rain. Very much needed rain.
Here we go again - another 2 nights with lows in the low 40's, high 30's. Poor bananas have had enough - shredd city! |
