HBL, you've got to get a medal, I've never seen someone trying so hard to derail his/her own thread. Bravo.

Sometimes I forget how new you are here. Your basjoos will have to look something like this to fruit: Bilder 2005
It's in German, but I think that the pictures are self-explanatory, oder?

Just consider it entertainment while you wait for my basjoo to grow. Derailing is a perfectly natural part of thread posting. One topic, always leads to another...

Sorry ... ..............excuse me! Hollyberry, you certainly know how to bring out the "best" in people

As Far as the flowering , after watching Scot Nelsons video and seeing how bananas are "supposed" to grow straight through and flower naturally I wonder how far each stress we put on them in colder climates sets them back. For example, dig it up to overwinter= stress. Repot, overwinter bare root, setting out in the cooler spring weather, cool nights during summer all unatural. I'm not so concerned about my basjoos but the others say. D. Namwah, Ca. Gold, veinte Cohol , I decided the best course of action is to plant in ground , overwinter in at least 15 gallons pots for a small plant ,as warm and bright as possible(I'm looking in to renting greenhouse space so I can keep them consistantly warm ). In the spring those that I'm really keen on will be planted in the little hoop house so I can keep them warmer at night. This will come off when it's consistantly hot.
As far as your basjoo 3-4 years would seem right for the corm and all to develop sufficient size and be able to produce as opposed to one grown outdoors in a naturally warmer climate that may do it in half that.

Damn it - don't know why I keep missing the "B" button!!!

You guys are too funny!

See my other banana plant beside my container pond? It really is taking off, now that we've warmed up so much. May have to move it to another sunny outdoor area if it gets too big.

We'll see...

Nice. We had several 60+mph winds this year, so my plants are rather... tired or replacing the damaged tissue. Some of the leavs were dead and just hangin there, so I took a knife and did some magic.

Now this reminds me of something, you might have referred to, Bob.
I loved those guys when I was a kid. Now I'm a little bit more grown up and I don't even consider them funny. Oh yeah, each joke will come invane now...

You bet I remember (although I'm NOT that old). If there were more cool bands nowadays, I wouldn't even know Rolling Stones. Well, Britney can't appeal to everybody.
