Default Default Baby variegated banana plant stem turning skinny and browning what should I d

Hey everyone, I'm really new here.

I recently decided to keep a variegated banana plant indoors, the stem is currently turning brown and skinny, seeking advice on what should I do to get the banana healthy again? Can it still be salvaged?

Would really appreciate your help!!

Could be over watering, is the pot sitting in water? Let it dry out between watering's.

Thanks Iowa, I just had it repotted and shifted the corm up closer to the surface of the soil, it was previously planted too deep and when I was doing my weekly routine check, i realize the soil for the banana plant was still wet from a week ago. Its not mushy, but its turning really thin. Am I doing the right thing?

I'm thinking of peeling or cutting it away but I'm also worried that the stem would be too weak to hold the rest of the plant. Should I chop it all the way down till the corm?

**Updates**

The brown stem area was spreading upwards and downwards, the stem became extremely skinny and I believe the rotting portion was suffocating the ste. I have decided to peel it off to prevent any other spreading. I have attached the images below, The stem is really weak at the bottom.

Let me know if you guys have any advice! I'm really new at taking care of banana plants. I live in a country with consistent weather of 28-34 degrees with rain almost every 3 days but its been raining consistently the past 6 days now.

Buy a new one ... much bigger that wont be sensitive to the environment.

That one: Too much sun; too much water; & not enough humidity. That TC should still be in a greenhouse under a misting system & filtered shading.

Does that pot have a drain hole in the bottom? It looks like a drinking cup. Banana plants need a fast draining soil and their pots MUST drain.

Hey edwmax, yeah its a small nursery pot with about 10 holes around the bottom.
The browning is still happening, not sure how to stop it from spreading. New roots are forming around the corm though.

If new roots are forming then that is good. The corm and roots should be white. If black, it is rot. .... That stem will die and a new growing point should form sprout a stem. .... Let the soil go nearly dry before watering and use a long stem moisture meter to check the soil in the middle and bottom of the pot.
