Default Brown tips on emerging leaves

This is my first post and I am trying to find out why my emerging leaves are brownish-black.
I bought the mother plant about six years ago and have kept several pups. I have always just left the foliage on them in the winter as insulation. I have very mild winters where I live; and every spring I just cut off the dead leaves and I am left with a good sized plant.
Last fall, my new Gardner cut them to the ground, and when they came up this year every leaf so far has had a brown, crunchy, tightly curled leaf tip.
Any ideas or suggestions of what causes this, or how to remedy it. Thanks!

Welcome to Bananas. That is definitely odd, I’ll let the experts chime in on this. :-)

What plant hardiness zone are you in? Find it below and update your profile if possible.
