Beginner here seeking some help with my new plants
I recently received these two Musa Basjoo and potted them about a week ago in Miracle Grow as instructed by the seller. One other banana plant (not shown) got root rot so I've been pretty conservative about watering them, but wondering why the leaves are looking droopy. These haven't been watered in about 3 days and the soil is still damp. They're in direct sun maybe 2-3 hours a day and the rest of the day in shade. I'm in the southeast so it's been hot and humid.
They've had some new growth since repotting but aren't exactly looking healthy. Any ideas why? |

Re: Beginner here seeking some help with my new plants
Pups this size should be in bright (sun) light but no direct sun and misted 2 or 3 Xs a day. .... The potting mix needs to be a fast draining mix with 50% perlite or course sand; and the pot must drain excess water out.

Re: Beginner here seeking some help with my new plants
So when you say misted, you mean just with a spray bottle? Is that instead of or in addition to watering?
How will I know when it's ok for them to be in direct sun? |

X2 what edwmax said
Tissue Culture plants this size do not want any direct sunlight yet, I had made that mistake. Keep them in the shade with indirect sunlight. Direct sunlight will burn the leaves and make them droop and curl. Good draining soil is a must, I simply mix good potting soil with perlite 50/50 You will know you are doing good when new leaves come out green and continuously one after the other. If they come out yellow your plant is not happy and growth will also slow.

Re: Beginner here seeking some help with my new plants
Thank you both.
So I'm curious about the misting - is that something I should do instead of watering or in addition to it? Also, how do I know when it's safe to leave these plants in the sun? |

As far as sun, you need to gradually introduce it as they grow, usually when they are a couple of feet tall and start getting mature leaves.
