I have said this before in previous posts, I have a lot of respect for all Northern growers. Next week we are going to have some very cold weather down here in South Louisiana. Nearly all week its going to be below freezing temps. Tonight gets to 33F, tomorrow down to 28F, Monday all day below freezing, as low as 15F. Tuesday lows of 26F. Thrusday lows of 27F and Friday lows of 28F. I know those may not be much for some of y'all but I live in Zone 9a, that is crazy. I had to cover my citrus and bananas. All you Northern growers do this every yr. I just wanted to say how much respect I have for all you growers.

Dang it!
Thought my area might make it through this year without a deep freeze but Weather Underground is predicting it will be 25F Monday night to Tuesday morning. It will be cloudy and rainy which might limit the damage a bit vs. a clear night so I got that going for me. |

By the way we’re having temps below freezing as a high up here in Ohio! Imagine that! I truly appreciate the nice comment about having respect for those of us Northern growers! ![]() ![]()

Akula,
Now that we got power back, I can get on here. We have not gotten above 32F since Sunday. Today, we should get to low 40s but back to freezing tomorrow and Friday. I am done with this weather |

Dearly Depotted,
We normally don't get crazy weather but once in a blue moon. Even those are too much for me. I can tell you that South Florida stays warmer. I have the most respect for you, cincinnana and all other northern growers. I keep reading how much work yall do to grow what tropical and subtropicals. I have learned so much by reading all of everyone's post. |

Cincinnana,
It got cold and rained so we lost power, we just for it back last night. Trees fell under the weight of all the ice. Branches fell on power lines. Today is the first day we got temps over 32F. Its all good, could have being worse. A couple of lazy days. |

Reporting just northnof Houston. Had hard freezes since Sunday night. Temps at 5 & 7 degrees overnight and days in the low 20's. Greenhouse power and heater went out when I lost power this past Sunday night. I'm praying for miracle but I believe it could be catastrophic. 40+ varieties .
We are still without power. Thank God for fireplace & gas range top so the animals and I are ok. I just don't know at this point if I will start over. So sad. Happy growing all. Darla

Removed the cover from my citrus and will do the same to my bananas as soon as I can. I just want to wait a little longer just incase we get another low temp. Citrus look good.
