Sad little Basjoos

I have had my plugs in the ground for about a week now, and they have lost there leaves. One has no leave but the stem is still green....so I am hoping that the plant will live. The other has only one leaf left on it, and the stem is still also green.
What do you think? they are getting water, they are mulched. and are in full sun.
Im thinking they will be ok but not sure? What do you think?

Since you said "plugs" I'm thinking that you really do mean plugs, like about 1-2 inches diameter plug a couple or 3 inches tall with a plant less than 9 inches tall? If so then they may be hurting for enough water through out the entire day if planted in full sun even if well watered once a day. I would shade them from direct sun for a couple of weeks until they begin to get some good root growth going then begin to slowly acclimate them to full sun gradually over another week or two before exposing them to full sun all day. Also, if you planted plugs directly into the ground the soil may or may not be loose enough and absorbent enough to hold enough moisture around the plug. If you did not amend the soil with compost and/or peat before planting and cultivate it well into the soil then you may want to do that. You may also want to just plant the plugs into pots a couple inches larger than the plugs with a lite potting mix that retains moisture well, but at the same time also drains well and set them in the shade for for a couple weeks and aclimate slowly to sun then after the root system is more developed transplant to the ground.

i agree with tracy. plant them in pots (amend the soil) and put them in the shade till you see new growth.

Yes, wholeheartedly agree, too much sun, too soon. They need to become acclimated slowly to full sun. A few weeks of shade will help immensely. If you haven't already done so, re-planting with compost and some perlite or other coarse soil additives to assist drainage will be beneficial as well. Good luck!

I did have them in a pot trying to give them more sun everyday. They were like that for about a week, and thats what i read???Maybe it needed more time? I have grown bananas
before and they did ok.
But to let everyone know, The one with one leave left on it,,,,looks like it has a new leaf starting to form,,,,and the one with no leafs on it also looks like they have a leaf ready to come out...
so im thinking that they should be ok????????????/
When i planted them....i did amend the soil, and mulched them also...so im started to think that they will be ok?

i noticed that when i put my basjoos in the sun( after 2 wk of shade sitting) the leaves got burnt anyway. then the new leaves started coming out and they didnt burn at all, the only difference between yours and mine is that mine were 3 ft tall, yours are still babies. so a little more shade sitting for the babies is probably what they need till they get just a tad bigger. jmo.
